Tennis Made Accessible.
A friendly, slower-paced version of the game for everyone.
What is Walking Tennis?
Walking tennis is a slower-paced version of the game designed to make tennis accessible to everyone. It keeps the fun and sociable spirit of tennis but with a few simple rule changes that make it easier on the body and suitable for a wide range of players.
Players must walk rather than run, and the ball can bounce twice, giving everyone more time to reach the shot and enjoy longer rallies.
The result is a relaxed and enjoyable version of tennis that still offers plenty of activity, skill and friendly competition.
Who is it for?
Walking tennis is incredibly inclusive. It’s ideal for:
- People who are new to tennis
- Players returning after injury or surgery
- Older adults who want to stay active
- Anyone who prefers a gentler pace of play
Because the game moves at a walking pace, it’s easier to learn and less physically demanding, while still providing all the enjoyment of hitting a tennis ball and playing with others.

Gentle Exercise with Real Benefits
Walking tennis offers many of the benefits of regular exercise without the high impact. Even at a slower pace, players are moving, reaching and swinging – helping to improve fitness, balance and coordination.
Regular participation can help to:
- Improve cardiovascular health
- Maintain strength and mobility
- Support balance and coordination
- Keep the mind active and engaged
Because the activity is low-impact and adaptable, it’s a great way to stay active over the long term.
Great for Mental Wellbeing
Physical activity and social interaction are both powerful for mental wellbeing. Walking tennis combines the two in a friendly, supportive environment.
Playing the game helps boost mood, reduce stress and keep the brain active through concentration and decision-making during rallies.
Just as importantly, sessions often become a social highlight of the week.
A Social Game
Walking tennis is about more than exercise – it’s also about community. Sessions are usually played in a relaxed group format where players mix in, encourage each other and enjoy a laugh along the way.
We finish sessions with a cup of tea or coffee and a chat, making it as much a social activity as a sporting one.
