On Monday 2nd May we will be having a friendly American Tournament at the club. On this occasion, our newer members will be guests of honour and we hope you will be able to join us at 10.00am for some gentle tennis, coffee and croissants and a sociable morning. If you haven’t played the format before, here is a simple description of how it is run:
- We play ‘American’ doubles, with several rounds of six-game sets and deuces settled by a single point. This means all matches finish roughly together.
- The winning pair then moves to the next court and splits up.
- This mixes players of different standards and gives all a chance of winning a (modest!) prize!
So, just turn up, brush the snow off the courts and enjoy some light hearted tennis! You could always make a day of it and pop up the road afterwards to the Bank Holiday Fair being held on Southgate Green.
